Dragon Dreams 1: The Nightmare's Wake

Currently I have no idea when this game will be done, as I have a habit of losing creative juices and motivation, but I HOPE some time in late 2024?

Playing the previous games in the series will not be required, as they were more like sample/proof-of-concept games. This is effectively the first canon game in the storyline. But if you haven't, and want something to play while you wait:

A dark energy emanates from an unknown source, and the Dragon King who watches over and protects the nearby lands has fallen into a deep, unwaking sleep. Without his protection, the darkness spreads, driving wildlife and even the inhabitants of the lands to behave strangely, violently, or disappearing altogether.
The only thing keeping the dark forces at bay are the Dreamstones, at least for now. There's no telling if or when even they may be overcome.

As a new arrival to these lands, you are not well equipped or prepared. However, curiously, the Dragon King knows of you, and has had his guards place their trust in your hands, to set off to find out who or what is causing this, and hopefully put a stop to it before all is lost in the wake of this nightmare!

Explore the world as best you can with the abilities you have at the time, to find dungeons, defeat cursed beasts, and find treasures that will aid in furthering your journey to free the lands of the curse!

• Explore at least 8 differently themed maps, solving puzzles, searching for equipment, upgrades, and abilities that will help you traverse and discover new things!
• Fight dozens of different cursed/hostile beings for money, and even a selection of unique equipment drops!
• Collect and upgrade dozens of unique pieces of equipment to enhance yourself with, and customize your play style; Melee, ranged, or magic?  Offensive or defensive? The choice is yours!
• A plethora (that's a funny word) of optional, togglable gameplay modifiers to mix up the experience!

Due to lack of rebindable controls (I'm sorry for that), you might want to have a third-party program ready if the default keyboard-only controls aren't to your liking. JoyToKey, Xpadder, something like that.
The main keys are:

Inventory: Space
Mini-Map: Tab
